Tummy time! We know, there are quite a few babies 👶🏼 who dislike their tummy time. So, why is it important to do??
SLEEP SAFETY‼️ That's why. Tummy time strengthens the shoulder, back, arm, and neck muscles💪🏻. The stronger baby's neck and arm muscles, the stronger their ability to get themselves out of a potentially dangerous sleep situation.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says parents can start tummy time as early as their first day home from the hospital. Start practicing tummy time 2️⃣ to 3️⃣ times each day for about 3-5 minutes each time, and gradually increase tummy time as baby gets stronger and more comfortable.
3️ months is the perfect age to ramp up tummy time. By 3 months parents should shoot for about 1 hour per day (broken up).
If your little one hates tummy time, try getting eye level👀 and engaging them with their favorite toys and things that are fun to look at.
Soon enough they will be lifting their head up high and smiling during tummy time just like sweet little Lovebug baby, Madelyn 🥰. We can't get enough of these cheeks of hers!!!!
