When you download the Lovebug App📱and start practicing healthy sleep habits early 👶🏼 💤 , you may not have to ever sleep train your baby. However, for those still struggling to get a full nights sleep 😫, you have the option to sleep train your baby anytime after 4️⃣ months of age (adjusted if premature).
What many parents don't know, is that when it comes to sleep training, you have options when it comes to different methods and how involved you would like to be. Here is a brief summary of the different methods:
1. 🙅🏽♀️No parental involvement - Also known as the extinction method or "cry it out".
2. Moderate parental involvement - Parents involved in getting baby to sleep through timed intervals/pop ins. This method goes by many different names including, "Ferber", "Graduated Extinction", "The Wave Method", "Progressive Waiting", "Check and Console".
3.🤱🏼High parental involvement - the parent stays in the room until baby falls asleep, often referred to as "Chair Method" 💺, "Sleep Lady Shuffle", or "Camping Out"🏕️
The baby sleep books out there📚(and there are A LOT) all have a slightly different approach, but all seem to fall into one of these 3 categories.
At Lovebug, we believe that every baby is unique. Some baby personalities do better with one method, and some personalities do better with another. While no parental involvement🙅🏼♂️ might be best for one family,🤱🏻high parental involvement might be best for another, and somewhere in between for another family. With all approaches, what matters is doing it safely.
As a parent, it can be overwhelming determining which method is best for your family and your baby. We’re here to help!! When using our app📱, Lovebug will walk you through each method. This way YOU can decide what is best for YOU, YOUR BABY, and YOUR FAMILY - and you'll receive step-by-step guidance to a full nights sleep.
