That's right! 🍷 In wine tasting, there is a certain order to tasting the wines. You start from a gentler wine, and then move to a more full bodied wine. This wine tasting approach is best so that you don't confuse your palate.
In baby sleep training:
The wines = your sleep training approach 🏋️
Your palate = your baby 👶🏼
There are many different methods to sleep train - ranging from a high parental involvement, gentler approach to a low parental involvement, fast-acting approach. The right approach for you is based on your family and your preferences.
But the *most important thing* is to not confuse your child. 🤔 They (like your palate 😜) will be confused if you keep changing the approach (the wine🍷) up on them. If one night you are gentle and more involved and the next night you switch to no involvement, your baby will only cry longer and harder to test what actually engages you . 👩🔬 They are confused, and can get frustrated.
If you aren't sure what approach is right for you, remember wine tasting. Start with a gentler approach (the sav blancs of sleep training), wait a week to see how it goes, and then move to a more full bodied cab.
See...! You've been training for parenthood this entire time!!
