What do the first 8️ weeks of baby sleep look like? Newborn sleep is unorganized, without patterns.
When your baby comes out of the womb he/she will have day/night confusion because they have yet to develop a circadian rhythm. This is why you might find yourself up at all hours of the night :). I promise, it gets better!!
At around 6-8 weeks of age baby will hit his/her FIRST SLEEP MILESTONE (YAY)!
Here is what this milestone entails: 🌙 Night sleep is becoming organized - you may start to see some longer sleep stretches at night (4-6 hours).
Signs your baby is reaching this milestone:
- Social smiles. This means that biologically your baby is starting to connect & react with the world! This is so fun, and a huge deal!
- Late in the evening fussiness starts to peak (with the exception to colicky infants).
- Day/night confusion comes to an end.
*Is your baby premature? If so, you will use the expected due date as the true biological age. For example: if your baby is 1 month premature, at 2 months of age, the baby is 1 month biological age. P.S. This is sweet little Benji Banks. He is one of our Lovebug babies, and we just adore both him and his momma! 🤗
