TRANSITIONING FROM BASSINET TO CRIB = one of the MANY sleep transitions that the Lovebug app📱 will guide you through step-by-step.
Our Lovebug app will recommend that when you bring baby home🏡, that they share a room with you for a period of time before moving to the crib/their own nursery. But, WHEN and HOW do I transfer them to their own nursery😱??
WHEN:
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends room sharing for the first 6-12 months of life. A LOT of parents choose to transition baby before this point. If you do make the decision to transfer baby sooner, please be sure to consult with your pediatrician before doing so!
HOW:
Here are a few tips!
1. Make sure that baby's room is familiar to them! We want baby to know that this is a safe sleep space💤. Start out by making it a daily habit to spend some wake time playing in baby's room, getting them acquainted with the environment.
2. Try napping baby in their crib. Start with 1 nap a day. Try the first nap to start, as it is typically their best and most restorative nap at this age!
3. If you're not quite ready to have baby sleep a full night in the crib, moving the bassinet into the nursery at night🌙 to start out is always an option as well!
Like we mentioned earlier, your Lovebug app📱 will guide you through this transition step-by-step! There are MANY sleep transitions you and baby encounter in the first year of life. Some of these include: sleep regressions, getting baby on a nap schedule, 3-2 nap transition, 2-1 nap transition...just to name a few.
The BEST part of the Lovebug app📱 is that there will be no research🤓, reading books📚, or planning necessary on your end! Just log baby's sleep, and the Lovebug app will guide you with a coach. Pretty darn cool, RIGHT!?
