Wake windows can start as early as the day you bring your baby home - but that doesn't mean that they necessarily should.
Many babies sleep a lot in their first few weeks of life. It could be as long as 20 hours, and they only wake up to eat. We recommend that you focus on feed windows until your baby is six weeks old. At six weeks, your baby goes through their first significant sleep milestone.
The first sleep milestone combines becoming more observant of their surroundings and a surge forward in social awareness. Together, this can result in your little one starting to fight sleep. When they begin to fight sleep, they will no longer sleep when they get tired. Instead, you have to offer them sleep at the right time for their body. So, six weeks is when you should start following wake windows because your baby will start to fight sleep around that time.
